TOPIC: FF XIV anyone?

FF XIV anyone? 1 year, 5 months ago #14645

Good morning y'all! I was just wondering if anyone was thinking about trying Final Fantasy online when it goes open beta Sept 1st? I was never a huge fan of the first FFO, but I'm willing to give anything a shot right now. It'de be nice to know a few people in game. Lemme know!

Is it going open beta as in fully open beta? Or is it still selection process.

I plan to buy it on launch so if I can get in on the beta I probably will.

It launches at the end of September, and yup, it'll be open registration on sept 1st the graphics look stunning, although what I hear of a 15 hour per week xp limit sucks. Like after 15 hours of play time, you cannot gain more until your weekly timer refreshes... I dunno about all that

Hm, not heard anything about that. Seems an odd feature to have. Unless their gameplay is so much fun that even though you're not getting xp you still want to play.

What a strange world that would be :p

Supposedly its set in place so the "casual" gamers won't get hugely overstepped by "hardcore" players. Good idea in theory, but I don't really care if So-and-So is lvl 80 a week after launch and I'm not. The makers state its to make sure people know when to stop playing... well thank you but I'm perfectly capable of logging off when I'm ready...
I can also see it as a way to ensure long subscription times. By limiting how fast you progress, you will stay subscribed longer. Sneaky Asians!! =D

But what about those poor sods with no self control who played themselves into the grave?

Even without taking them into consideration, there are people who can't tear themselves away from their virtual world save to begrudgingly use the toilet or fill their noise hole with high sugar, low nutrition garbage.
